Opening of new exhibition on July 15, 2020
Contemporary Puppets: Creations and talks is a special exhibition for our team, which over the course of 4 months has been working behind closed doors on this new project, in a shared way, renovating the space, the works and the talks that expand from of these.
The new exhibition follows the basic concept of Museu das Marionetas do Porto, assuming the relationship between theatre and museum, the creation of shows and the exhibition of works.
It includes emblematic plays of the company (Miséria, Vai no Batalha, Óscar, História da Praia Grande, among others), and new spaces created with new dynamics with the audience in mind.
The exhibition provides a diverse entertainment, able to carry the visitor to a different place, through the exhibited works, props, stories and all the activities proposed in a program aimed at all audiences.
In addition to the world of contemporary author puppets, the visitors will discover in the temporary exhibition space (July 15 to January 31) the work of photographer Susana Neves and a work by artist Ricardo Leite donated to the company, painted and inspired in the puppets of the show Macbeth, by João Paulo Seara Cardoso.
The inauguration does not have an associated celebration program, it is an opening of doors to the public, which means a lot for the team, especially because it is a gesture made after so many days and months behind closed doors.
In a narrow street, in the heart of the historic centre, crossing the door of the Museum has been, for many visitors, an encounter with utopia. We wish this to continue through this new exhibition that begins the summer.
