The exhibition Contemporary Puppets: Creations and talks opened on July 15, 2020, following the basic concept of the exhibition project: the relationship between theatre and museum, the creation of shows and the exhibition of shows.
It includes emblematic plays of the company (Miséria, Vai no Batalha, Óscar, História da Praia Grande, Teatro Dom Roberto, Os Amigos de Gaspar, IP5, among others), and new spaces created with new dynamics with the audience in mind, such as the experimentation space and the children’s space.
The exhibition provides a diverse entertainment, able to carry the visitor to a different place, through the exhibited works, props, stories and all the activities proposed in a program aimed at all audiences.
In addition to the world of contemporary author puppets, which inhabit the two floors of the museum, in the foyer, there is a work donated to the company, by the artist Ricardo Leite, painted and inspired by the puppets from the show Macbeth, by João Paulo Seara Cardoso and A.M.O.R./L.O.V.E., by João Rodrigues, as the result of the creation of the show “Para Onde Vão?”, by Teatro de marionetas do Porto, and our guest for this temporary exhibition, which will remain until 2nd February 2025.
In a narrow street, in the heart of the historic centre, crossing the door of the Museum has been, for many visitors, an encounter with utopia. We hope it will continue to be so through the current exhibition.
