The exhibition The Dreamlike Universe of Marionetas do Porto includes emblematic works by the company that relate to the theme of dreams and ethereal environments (Wonderland, Nada ou Silêncio de Beckett, Cabaret Molotov, Cinderela, A Cor do Céu e Joanica Puff).
Miséria and Teatro Dom Roberto remains a historical document of the Museu das Marionetas do Porto, and we add to the list a mega illustration by Júlio Vanzeler that unites dozens of characters created by him.
In the experimental space, designed as a mini-theatre, you can be a true puppeteer, director, and even a technician for lighting, sound, and video.
The exhibition allows for a diverse experience, capable of transporting the visitor to another place, through the exhibited pieces, the props, the stories, and all the activities proposed in a program aimed at all audiences.
In the room dedicated to temporary exhibitions, we receive, twice a year, companies of puppets and animated forms from our country.
This is an author’s museum, centered on the work of João Paulo Seara Cardoso (1956-2010), founder of the Porto Puppet Theatre, located on a narrow street in the heart of the historic center. Crossing the door of the Museum has been, for many visitors, an encounter with utopia. We hope it continues to be so through the current exhibition.
